Tigo, a renowned telecommunication company in Ghana, has honoured two bright Telecommunication Engineering students of the College of Engineering with a cash amount of GH¢ 3,000 as part of activities to strengthen collaboration with KNUST.
The award ceremony was held at the College of Engineering Auditorium. The best male and female students in the Department of Electrical Engineering were each presented with a cash amount of GH¢ 1, 500 for outstanding academic performance.
The recipients of the award were, Daniel Osei Kwatia and Eunice Arthur, all in the final year of Bachelor of Science programme in Telecommunication Engineering.
The occasion was further used to expose students to career opportunities in Tigo. Some representatives from Tigo gave comprehensive presentations to introduce students to the company's operations, particularly in the area of Human Resources and Information Technology. The students were later given free customised souvenirs and packages for participating in the programme.
Meanwhile, preparations are underway for Tigo and KNUST to sign a memorandum of understanding geared towards the benefits of both institutions. It was further disclosed that Tigo would soon provide a GH¢ 5,000 fund to the Department of Electrical Engineering for a specific project which would be revealed at a later date.
Notable among some senior members who graced the occasion were the Head of Electrical Engineering Department, Mr. E.K. Anto, and Professor F.K. Forson, Head of Mechanical Engineering Department.
